STARS Youth Theater

Drama classes are held on a continual basis and are divided by age. Every class is different although they may explore similar activities. The philosophy of this program is that there is a STAR in each of us. The program is a fun way for kids to get together, have fun and make new friends. However, there is a lot that happens “behind the scenes”. Dramatic exercises build confidence, speaking ability and teamwork skills. Most classes are NOT performance based but are SKILL based. "Sharing" will demonstrate improvisational situations and the like. Though the stage, according to director Cindy Verian, is one of the best places to be – life is full of situations that require similar skills. Throughout life, whether you are meeting new friends, presenting a book report, or discussing promotional opportunities with your employer, presentation skills are imperative. Each class is creatively designed to help every child at every level grow. Classes include creative movement, dramatic games, short skits & improvisational exercises. And, the curriculum is such that no two classes are the same – ever! Students can begin with ProtoSTARS and progress through HamitupSTARS, RisingSTARS & MegaSTARS without ever repeating a class. The classes all build upon each other with a common framework that will challenge every child to shine.
